About Us: Leadership Academy of Utah (LAU) is an online charter school serving students across the state of Utah.  LAU offices are located in Clearfield, Utah. This position does NOT require you to live in proximity to LAU offices; many of our team members work remotely from various locations across Utah. 
About the Position: The Special Education Teacher is a key role at LAU and the individual who fills it is responsible for helping ensure quality Special Education services are provided to eligible students. This is a remote position. This position reports to the LAU Special Education Director and requires 40 hours per week time commitment. Compensation for this position is $40.000 per year. 401K Benefits. Health Insurance Stipend.
This position is responsible for the following functions:                                                                                                               Provide Special Education Services  - The LAU Special Education Teacher is responsible for the delivery of all services prescribed in the Individual Education Plans of LAU Special Education students in their caseload. He/she may deliver some or all of these services or delegate to other team members as the workload necessitates.
Coordination of Schedules and Related Services for Caseload of Special Education Students- Secures and schedules related service providers for the school’s IEP needs and ensures delivery of these including:Speech-language therapy- Occupational and physical therapy- Counseling- Adaptive physical education (accommodations for gym class)- Early identification and screening- School health services- Social work                                                                                                                                                                                     
Special Education Compliance - Ensure all student files in caseload are kept up to date and in compliance                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Oversight of IEP Meetings- Schedule and run IEP meetings- IEP notifications and paperwork according to caseload- Coordinate with Mentors and LAU administrators for scheduling and to communicate student needs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education 
  • Valid and current Utah Special Education credential/licensure
  • 5 years experience in the field of Special Education
  • Must pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Special Education
  • Experience in delivering online Special Education services
  • Highly qualified in Math
